Modern Dental Practice operates from a single location in Budapest, serving a diverse patient base with advanced restorative and cosmetic procedures. The clinic faced multiple interconnected challenges that threatened operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Outdated Security Infrastructure
The clinic's existing security system was outdated and unreliable, with analog cameras that provided poor image quality and limited coverage of critical treatment areas. The system lacked modern features like motion detection, intelligent alerts, and searchable recordings.
Patient Network & Wi-Fi Issues
The clinic needed to provide reliable Wi-Fi for patient waiting areas without exposing medical networks. Their previous network infrastructure didn't support segregation of patient-facing and clinical networks, creating potential security vulnerabilities.
GDPR Compliance & Data Privacy
GDPR regulations require that patient footage be stored on-premises and that access be strictly controlled and audited. The clinic needed a solution that stored all security footage locally without reliance on cloud services.
Complex Access Control
Medication storage and sensitive treatment areas required restricted access control. The clinic needed a system to manage staff access with audit trails while preventing unauthorized entry to restricted zones.
The Solution
AION Networks designed and implemented a comprehensive UniFi ecosystem that addressed all these challenges through a single, integrated platform. The solution was deployed with minimal disruption to patient care.
UniFi Protect Cameras
Deployed 8 × UniFi Protect G4 Dome cameras throughout the clinic, including treatment rooms, waiting areas, and medication storage. All cameras stream to a local UniFi Dream Machine SE with on-premises storage—no cloud dependency. Intelligent motion detection enables quick incident review and patient safety monitoring.
UniFi Network Infrastructure
Installed 3 × UniFi WiFi 6E Access Points (U6+) providing seamless coverage across the entire facility. Network segmentation was configured with separate VLANs: clinical network (staff access), patient Wi-Fi (guest network with bandwidth limits), and admin network. This architecture ensures patient data isolation while delivering exceptional wireless performance.
UniFi Access Control
Implemented UniFi Access with 2 electronic readers: one for medication storage and one for the sterilization room. Staff access is managed through proximity cards with time-based restrictions. All access events are logged with full audit trails for compliance verification.
Local Network Controller
The Dream Machine SE acts as the central controller, managing all devices from a single dashboard. All security footage is stored locally on the integrated 1TB SSD storage, with automatic backup capabilities. Staff can manage the entire system without external dependencies.
