Healthcare facilities carry some of the highest stakes for a security failure: patient records, restricted areas, controlled substances, staff and patient safety. Many still run on camera and access hardware nobody has re-evaluated in years, sometimes from manufacturers with documented security concerns.

That matters more than usual here because of what GDPR asks of facilities handling patient data. Personal data can move freely inside the EU and EEA, but sending it outside requires an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards under GDPR Chapter V, and few things are more sensitive than footage of who came and went from a clinic. AION doesn't install equipment from brands like Dahua or Hikvision, where it's genuinely unclear what happens to that footage once it's captured. UniFi hardware answers the question directly: recordings and access logs are stored locally on the facility's own NVR or gateway, and stay there unless the facility opts into cloud backup. AION audits what's currently installed, flags anything that shouldn't be there, and replaces it with a single UniFi-based system.

From there, AION manages it: access logs, camera uptime, and firmware updates handled on an ongoing basis instead of left to whoever happens to notice a problem first. It's also, as a bonus, some of the best-designed hardware on the market: clean, unified, and easy for staff to use day to day.
